When I was trying to think of something interesting to write about for this week’s blog post, I came up with nothing. I’ve been at my internship for four weeks now (halfway done!), and I’m really just falling into a routine. I’m still working on the same three projects I have been for the past few weeks, so I thought I’d give you some updates.
First of all, major progress has been made on my Spark!Lab videos! I have been in contact with the city’s video editor, and we have been discussing ideas for our final product. He has sent me some rough first edits, and I think they look great! I have also started writing potential captions for the videos on social media. If we are able to post some of them in the next few weeks, I will make sure to link them in a blog post so you can see what we’ve been working on!
My projects for programming for our temporary exhibit, Apron Strings, came to a halt this week. I had finished creating all of my ideas before last weekend, and I was supposed to have a meeting with my boss this week to give updates. Unfortunately, she decided to work from home this week, so we decided to push the meeting to next Thursday when more staff can join us. I was a little disappointed just because I was so excited about my projects, but since the exhibit doesn’t come until September, we are not in any rush.
The project that has become the most tedious is the map worksheets. I’m at the point where I have the graphics made and the format of the worksheets are set, so now I need to write the questions. I’m struggling with this part a little because I’m trying to adapt the worksheets so that I can have different versions for different grade levels. However, I’m not expert enough to decide what is a 2nd grade question vs a 4th grade question. I’ve not been enjoying trying to come up with the questions, so I’ve been putting it off to work on other things. What I really need to do is just power through it and my boss can help me fix it later if I need to change some of the questions.
So, that’s been my week! Hopefully by my next blog post something a little more ~exciting~ will happen!
